Ayuno es Real!!!!

Don’t have a lot of time because we are going to play in the park with our District.  But so many cool things happened!!!

After a few weeks of no investigators at church, we had 5 there yesterday!!! It was so great to see them all there.  We fasted as a zone this past week to help all the investigators with baptism dates and others that are progressing and we definitely are seeing the blessings.
Maria and Victor: They came to church and also the Noche de Hogar (family home evening) last night.  Their knowledge and faith is growing, slowly but surely.  Constant love and contact is the key if they really want to know.
Maria brought her boyfriend to church and he liked it!! The spirit was there and just so many good things are happening.
We set a goal to have a baptism in the branch by the end of this transfer.  We have three weekends left. One is Easter, what better time to have a baptism!! We are really praying and doing all we can to find someone who is ready, or to help our current investigators have the desire to make that sacred covenant with God.  The blessings of the Gospel are real people.  What a privilege it is to have the FULLY RESTORED Gospel, because through it we can receive the fullness of Gods blessing that come with it!!
We got a flat tire, there was a big hole in it and we are just so grateful nothing happened while we were driving. Good thing the elders were near by to save the day!! (typical female problems:/
1 Cor. 15:26 is really great, and I think it has something to do with Harry Potter but my missionary brain doesn’t remember too well.  2 Cor. 10 is also a great study, oh and Jacob 4.  The scriptures are just awesome!! I love you all, take care y que tengan una buena semana llena del Espiritu!!

1: We went to the temple to help during the missionary sessions. WE are going this week on Thursday to do a session.  I’m really excited!!
2: This was a Irvin’s 18th b-day party.  It was so hot in their little apt. , as you can see I am sweating a lot here. They are a great family in the ward and Irvin wants to go on a mission!!!

Los Hermosos Dias

The weather here is crazy. We were out walking yesterday and I was sweating, while just a week ago there was frost on our car.  It’s as bad as Utah here people, I’m telling you.

Not a ton to say. We are doing a lot of finding and contacting looking for the truly ready people.  We had intercambios this week.  I went to another city with Hermana Torres. Ella es de Zacatecas, Mexico and it was sooo fun!!! I learned so much from her and guess what? My trainer Sister Barroso also trained her, so we are sisters!!
There are so many POTENTIAL investigators, but thats ok, because we have faith that they will become real investigators.  We just have to keep being obedient and praying for the spirit.  I am learning that it really isn’t the words we say, it’s the Spirit that converts and testifies of the truthfulness and importance of the Gospel.  It has been so cool to see that in less active members too.  When we see them at church it just makes me so happy!
I didn’t keep my promise mom, I really have no pictures.  But I am keeping my camera in my backpack this week and hopefully I will have some good foto documentario de esta semana.

I am really excited for General Conference. I think we will wathch in Espanol, that will be exciting. I can see how much I really understand and know. I translated a talk for the first time in Sacrament.  It was really hard!! I had to work my brain so fast to think in spanish, then in english, then in talk in english.  Haha sometimes I said spanish words.  Oh well. My bike is good. Ilove it. We don’t use it as much as I would like. It’s hard when you have appt. back to back.

A few things I would like to mention. We sing a hymn every morning before companionship study.  My companion cannot carry a tune in a bucket.  Haha it’s kinda funny.  The funniest part is that she came up with an idea to sing when we teach.  I tried to work a way around it but it didn’t work.  We have sung for a few investigators and I am surprised that they still want us back.  But the spirit is a marvelous when it comes to disguising our mistakes.
Remember this:  Helaman 5:9 tells us to “remember, remember.. that there is no way nor means whereby man can be saved, only through the atoning blood of Jesus Christ.” When we remember our Savior, his Gospel, his Life and His Commandments, we will never go astray.  REMEMBER is a very strong word because when we remember Him, we will not want to disobey or serve any other master. I love this work and every day I see God’s hand in my life and others.  Thank you for all your support and prayers. Yo se que la Iglesia de JESUCRISTO de los Santos de los Ultimos Dias es verdadero.  que hermosa esta oracion es!
les quiero y que tengan una muy muy buena semana!!!

Una Cama bajo un coche….

That means “a bed under a car”.  What a crazy story that was! We got a call on Wednesday from a less active member and her sister. They needed help moving so we called the Elders and went to the rescue! It was pretty wet and rainy outside but we were just hauling everything out of the apartment very hectic-scetic and throwing in the truck and minivan. My comp and I had to leave and as we turned onto the main road we such a bunch of police cars around a car.  As we got closer we saw a huge mattress jammed up underneath a car! We realized it was one of the mattresses that we had helped move out! Oh the things that happen.

This week was pretty good, but then, what weeks aren’t? We did a lot of finding and have some new investigators. We met a family from Peru and their two sons are really interested in the church and what it’s all about. The two older sons came to Futbol at the church so that was good, now we have to get them to come on Sunday! We also taught this family that told us they wouldn’t have let us in the door at first, but because we were smiling and nice we were able to teach them the Restoration and they invited us back for lunch!!! Whooohoo The Gospel is great and being a missionary is really the greatest thing.
We didn’t have any investigators at church this Sunday, but two young less active families/part member families came to church!!! It was great to see some of the fruit of our labors with some of God’s precious children. I know that He cares about each one of us and wants us to be happy.
I hope you have a great week! I love you all! Thanks for sending pictures, I love seeing all your smiling faces:) Stay strong and read this great scripture: Alma 7:7-9  We are given the strength to do what we need.  We can help others as we prepare for Christ’s second coming. “Yo se que vive mi Senor, consuelo es poder saber..”  What an amazing knowledge we have of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Guerra di nieve

Oh, this week was awesome!! There is always so much that happens, both good and not so good.  First I’ll start out that transfers this week and…..we are both staying!!! I am so happy that I can finish up training hermana Portilla and myself and then I will be done with training for a while.  I am so happy we get to stay here in the Branch. There is a lot of work to do but it’s progressing little by little.  Yesterday they called a Branch Mission Leader, finally!! Hermano Renteria is possibly one of the funniest people I know so it is going to be great to work with him and help him in this new calling.

Elder Ruano and Elder Gunther are leaving, they have both been here for a while and the branch is really going to miss them, but change is good and different missionaries can bring something new to the branch.  yesterday was the Baptism of a little boy named Uriel. His mom has been inactive for years and just three weeks ago has started coming back to church. We had Maria and Maria and Victor there so that was really cool.
Marshall also came to church to the English ward. We met him towards the beginning of the transfer on the road one day and he knows this is all true!! He is so cool and I really believe one of the people I was supposed to meet on my mission.
On wednesday they predicted snow, so the schools, post, and pretty much everything closed.  We went out working becuse is was just raining throughout the day.  That night we went to a mini fiesta for recent converts 12th birthday.  As we started to it it started to snow!!!! It was the first time since last year so we all trooped outside and comenced an epic snowball fight.  It was so fun! At first it was just the missionaries and Diego’s family, then the whole apartment complex came out and joined us.  It was so fun and a great way to enjoy the approx. 2 inches of snow we received.  Savannna mission 3-2-15 #4 Savanna mission 3-2-15 Savanna mission 3-2-15 #3 Savanna mission 3-2-15 #2
Description of pictures: We went to the Civil Rights Museum on P-day.  It was so cool to see the 16th street Baptist Church, where there were 6 kids killed in a bombing during the Civil Rights Movement.  We are in the heart of it all! Cool Story: JP was a member but his wife and wasn’t. They hadn’t been to church when the Missionaries knocked on their door.  Hna. Barroso and I invited them to church and they came.  Crystal and their oldest daughter Ember were baptized on Saturday.  The power of conversion is real people! Dinner on Sunday with los Renteria. That family is seriously the funniest!
I am still learning a lot and every day I am reminded of my faults but I am also shown daily the blessings of the Lord in my life.  God blesses us when we try our best every day, and even when we make mistakes or even deliberately disobey, we can always repent and receive comfort and forgiveness.  I know that through the atonement of Christ ALL mankind may be saved.  That is our message to the world and every day it becomes more and more real as I see the changes the Atonement makes in the lives of others.

“For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not”  Galations 6:7-9

Don’t be weary, don’t faint, we can do this and we can do all things that the Lord requires of us if we just obey and follow him. I know the scriptures give us real guidance if we study them diligently.  Pick a topic and find a way to apply it in your life this week. Les amo mucho!!! Cuidense
